Cargill, an annual supporter of feeding the needy, donated 2,572 turkeys to the Kansas Food Bank on Wednesday, Food Bank officials said in a statement.
The Food Bank, with its warehouse on Douglas Avenue, supports food pantries, other non-profit agencies, and needy school children in Wichita and in 85 counties in the state.
"We appreciate Cargill’s ongoing support to help us reach food insecure families who rely on the Kansas Food Bank and our agencies" said Brian Walker, President & CEO of the Kansas Food Bank, in the statement.
"Our partners at Cargill are instrumental in ensuring hunger relief efforts are a top priority."
The Food Bank last year distributed more than 11 million pounds of food to nearly 137,300 different Kansans, the Food Bank said.
