A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting on South Broadway, Wichita police said.

Wichita police Sgt. Bob Gulliver said two calls came in to the 911 dispatch Tuesday night.

Police were first called to the 3800 block of South Broadway at around 7:15 p.m. on a report of shots being fired but found no victim or crime scene.

That’s near Broadway and MacArthur.

Then, at about 7:30 p.m., patrons at Bill & Mary’s Neighborhood Bar, in the 4200 block of South Broadway, called 911 to report a man lying in the parking lot, Gulliver said.

Wichita fire crews found the man, who had a gunshot wound to his back.

He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in critical condition.

Police do not think the man was shot in the parking lot of the bar; the two calls are most likely connected, Gulliver said.

Police do not have any suspects and are not actively looking for them, Gulliver said.
