Wichita’s Veterans Day parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday and will feature more than 60 floats, according to a news release from parade organizers.
This year’s theme is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. Two World War II veterans will serve as grand marshals of the parade: William Paschal, a retired Wichita dentist; and, Freddy Simon of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers.
It will include a flyover by the Commemorative Air Force and a ceremony with featured speakers Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer, Wichita school superintendent John Allison, Simon and Paschal.
The route begins at the intersection of Main and Central and proceeds south on Main to WaterWalk.

In addition to the parade, there will be a Remembrance Event at WaterWalk, which will include family activities, music, food trucks and World War II re-enactors.
The parade is sponsored by the Wichita School District JROTC.
