Wichita’s park and rec director to speak at Veterans Day event

Troy Houtman, Wichita’s new Park and Recreation director, will be the speaker Tuesday for a Veterans Day program at Veterans Memorial Park.

Houtman, who took over the city position in September, is a Army veteran who served in Desert Storm, organizers said. The event will start at 11 a.m. at the park, 339 N. Veterans Parkway – a short street by the Arkansas River that connects Central and Second.
