Police are investigating the theft of more than two dozen guns from a weapons store in west Wichita on Tuesday morning.
Two people broke in through the front door of Knapp Weaponry, 2901 W. Central, between 4:30 and 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday and took 27 guns worth more than $14,000, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said.
“There’s a wide range of handguns involved,” Espinoza said, “and a few rifles.”
Investigators are reviewing security camera footage of the crime, Espinoza said, but the two people are so well cloaked that it’s unclear what gender they are.
Anyone who has information about the burglary or those responsible is being asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Tips can be sent by text to TIP217 and a message to CRIMES (274637) or submit tips online at www.wichitasedgwickcountycrimestoppers.com. Each tip is issued a number, which is used to check whether a reward has been approved.
