Children’s Mercy adds Wichita cardiology clinic

Children’s Mercy of Kansas City is now offering a cardiology clinic for children with heart conditions in Wichita at 3243 E. Murdock, Suite 201, according to a news release.

The clinic has one full-time cardiologist who will be based in Wichita and is recruiting two more physicians. It also has an advanced nurse practitioner, registered nurse and cardiac sonographer.

The clinic is open five days a week, with a cardiologist on site three days a week, and will use telemedicine – where doctors can see and talk with patients from a different location via computer – the rest of the time.

Marshaun Butler, vice president of Children’s Mercy South and Regional Medical Practices, said the clinic will serve more than 500 heart patients in the Wichita area.

Children’s Mercy began offering clinics in Wichita in 2012. Other clinics include endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology, allergy and asthma, orthopedic surgery and urology.

In the future, Children’s Mercy plans to add cardiac electrophysiology and heart failure clinics.
