Two people were arrested in northeast Wichita following a standoff that lasted several hours, authorities said.
Residents reported hearing shots in the area of 13th and Roosevelt at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Lt. James Espinoza said. Officers were unable to find any evidence of a shooting, however.
A couple of hours later, Espinoza said, more shots were fired. A resident reported seeing a man fire shots.
Officers arriving in the area saw the man on a street corner, Espinoza said. He ran back into a house in the 1300 block of North Yale. When officers approached the house shortly before 1:15 a.m., they saw the man reach for a gun inside the house, so they backed off and called the SWAT team.

As a precaution, 13th was closed between Hillside and Oliver. Negotiations ultimately led to the man surrendering without incident, Espinoza said.
The man and a woman inside the house were both arrested on outstanding warrants, he said. Streets were reopened for traffic before 7:30 a.m.
