Fire damages top of grain elevator on East 13th

A small fire damaged a grain elevator in Wichita on Monday night, authorities said.

The fire was reported at about 9 p.m. in the 700 block of East 13th Street, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. Workers evacuated after smoke was reported, and the fire was eventually discovered at the top of the elevator.

It took crews a little more than an hour to put out the fire. No injuries were reported.

A damage estimate has not been released.
