Wichita bars will be showing Kansas City Chiefs games, among other NFL teams. Kansas City Star

Professional football has been the most popular sport in the U.S. for more than 30 years, according to the Harris Poll.

The NFL is more than twice as popular as any other sport, with about one in three adults claiming it as their favorite.

That means lots of football on TV. And in Wichita that means a lot of bars and restaurants will show every game, whether it’s the Kansas City Chiefs or the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But how do you decide where to go? The Eagle has compiled a guide to watching the Eagles – or any other team – in Wichita.

If you are a Bengals or Raiders fan, go to Hooters, where there is a separate room for your type (apparently Raiders fans are particularly rowdy).

If you are a Seahawks fan, there is a small contingent that shows up every week at Twin Peaks West.

If you want bottomless wings, Hooters will serve you on Mondays for $14.49 ($11.99 for boneless). Or for something more homestyle, Magoos does chicken fried steak on Mondays and pork chops on Thursdays for $7.99.

If you are the type who needs to knock back touchdown shots, Dudley’s Bar and Grill offers $3.25 Fireball shots and $5 Yeager Bombs. River City Brewing Co. has $3 beers from 1 to 4 p.m.

If your significant others aren’t so into the game, perhaps you can lure them on Thursdays into coming along to A.J’s Sports Grill, which has general trivia before the game, or to Bourbon Street Sports Bar and Grill, where karaoke kicks off at 9:30 p.m.

If you just need lots of TVs, Heroes Sports Bar and Grill’s 33 screens is tops. But if you want large screens as well, Emerson Biggins West has 31 TVs and four projectors to boot.

Heroes also wins the award for the most creative event for Monday Night Football bingo, with T-shirts and koozies for prizes. If you get a full blackout of all the squares, you earn bigger prizes like coolers and dartboards.

If you tend to get crazy or anti-social during games, consider renting out a private room for yourself and your anti-social friends at Joe’s Bar and Grill.
