Wichita police to conduct sobriety checkpoints Friday evening

The Wichita Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints across the city, beginning at 10:30 p.m. Friday and running through 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release.

Officers will stop motorists to check their driver’s license, proof of insurance and seat belt usage. Motorists not in compliance or who are suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be detained for further evaluation.

The checkpoint is being conducted along with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Sedgwick County Emergency Management Services, and the Kansas DUI Impact Center.
