Man in critical condition following south Wichita collision

Two people were injured – one critically – in a collision in south Wichita on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The collision took place just after 3 a.m. at K-15 and MacArthur Road, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. A Suzuki sedan and a GMC Yukon collided at the intersection, Sedgwick County sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said.

“Our investigation indicates that the Suzuki ran the red light” and struck the Yukon, Dehning said.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Wesley Medical Center, he said. The man was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the Yukon sustained minor injuries and was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph for treatment.

There’s no indication alcohol played a role in the collision, Dehning said, but blood was drawn from the driver of the Suzuki to check for anything that might have influenced his driving.
