New poll shows Davis widening lead over Brownback for Kansas governor
A new poll out Friday shows Democrat Paul Davis with 52 percent to 45 percent for Gov. Sam Brownback.
It was the second straight poll showing Davis above the 50 percent barrier against Brownback.
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll surveyed 960 likely voters Oct. 20 and 21. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
The latest poll shows:
▪ Roughly 53 percent of respondents thought of the governor unfavorably.
▪ Fifty-eight percent of respondents thought Kansas was worse off today than it was four years ago when Brownback took office.
▪ Most Kansans don’t trust Brownback with taxes. The Rasmussen poll found that 48 percent of voters trust Davis on taxes compared with 42 percent for Brownback. Ten percent didn’t know.
▪ The effort to exploit Davis’ presence at a strip club during a drug raid does not appear to be sticking. On ethics and corruption, 45 percent trust Davis compared with 40 percent for Brownback.
