Rock Road intersection set to close two weeks for repairs. See detours
Bel Aire residents who use the 53rd Street and Rock Road intersection will need to add a detour to their drive for the next couple of weeks.
That’s because, starting July 20, the intersection will be closed for a full-depth replacement as part of the suburb’s 2026 street maintenance plan, the city shared on its social media.
Those driving north of the intersection will need to detour north to K-254 while those driving east will need to detour east to Webb Road. Drivers south of the intersection will detour south to 45th Street and west of the closed intersection will need to detour west to Woodlawn Boulevard.
The closure will last approximately two weeks, the city said in a Facebook post, depending on the weather.
Road closures are nothing new for Bel Aire residents. Woodlawn from 37th St N. to 45th N. has been the main culprit of road closures in the city since 2021, when construction was paused due to issues. Construction continued again this year before pausing once again due to soft subgrade. Reconstruction restarted again this month.
