Two K-254 ramps will close temporarily this week. Here’s when, where

Commuters near Bel Aire and Kechi will need to double-check their routes today and tomorrow as the Kansas Department of Transportation plans two temporary closures.

The westbound K-254 to southbound I-35 off-ramp will be closed today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for maintenance repairs. The Hillside on-ramp will be closed Wednesday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., also for maintenance repairs.

Although these two ramps are undergoing maintenance, K-254 could see bigger changes as KDOT continues to look at ways to improve the interchanges from Rock Road to Greenwich Road. The changes could mean more turn lanes, diverging diamond interchanges as well as a new restricted crossing U-Turn — just to name a few. Residents had until mid-June to submit their thoughts and the timeline is still dependent on when funding becomes available.
