62-year-old man dies after car crash in northwest Wichita

A Wichita man died after a two-car collision in the northwest part of the city on Sunday afternoon.

Wichita police said the crash happened between a silver Nissan and a black Infiniti just before 3 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 21st Street North.

The driver of the Nissan, a 62-year-old Wichita man, was extracted from the car by the Wichita Fire Department and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, a press release from the department said. He was pronounced dead around 5:20 p.m..

The driver of the Infiniti, a 78-year-old Wichita woman, and an 11-year-old boy were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Another Infiniti passenger, a 65-year-old woman, was also hospitalized with severe, non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the department encouraged anyone with information to contact detectives at 316-350-3686, or to leave a tip anonymously via CrimeStoppers at 316-267-2111.
