A motorcyclist died after rear-ending a stopped vehicle on Kellogg in east Wichita Friday afternoon, Wichita police said.

Police said the 72-year-old motorcyclist was westbound at about 4:30 p.m. when vehicles came to a standstill because of merging traffic near the Grove Street exit. The motorcycle ran into the back of a stopped vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kellogg was shut down at Hillside while emergency services responded.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
