Man taken to hospital after being shocked while trimming trees

A man was taken to the hospital after an accident involving power lines in west Wichita.

Just after 1 p.m. Monday, first responders were told that an accident happened while a person was trimming trees, Wichita fire Capt. Mark Misek said.

They found the man unconscious in the bucket of a 50-foot lift near the intersection of S. Custer and West Burton. It took crews some time to get into a position to reach the man, Misek said, before they were able to transport him to a hospital. He was taken in code blue, which means he was in near or full cardiac or respiratory arrest.

First responders used their own truck with a lift to rescue a man who had been shocked while trimming trees near power lines.
