Man in wheelchair dies after being struck by a vehicle in north Wichita

The Wichita Police Department is investigating a crash that led to the death of a 63-year-old man in north Wichita on Saturday afternoon.

Wichita officers found the man, who used a wheelchair, in the 2700 block of North Amidon at about 1:16 p.m. on Saturday, a WPD press release said. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, who stayed on the scene, was suspected of being impaired. He was booked on suspicion of felony DUI and involuntary manslaughter, police said.
