Man dies in crash during go-kart race at Lake Afton Park
A Missouri man has been identified as the victim of a fatal go-kart crash that happened during a race at Lake Afton Park on Saturday.
Troy Allen Ernst, 49, of Osage Beach, Missouri, was participating in an organized race in the southwest area of the park when the fatal crash happened just after 3 p.m. Ernst lost control of his go-kart after making a sharp turn, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. The go-kart went airborne before crashing into the Lake Afton dam area. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
