Spring time is officially here and with it comes the beginning of farmers market season in the Wichita area.

And while Wichita’s two big farmers markets — Kansas Grown Farmers Market in west Wichita and the Old Town Farm and Art Market downtown — are now up and running, those are not the only farmers markets in the broader Wichita area.

In fact, multiple farmers markets are held in cities surrounding Wichita. So if you’re looking for a market near you, or if you’re simply trying to expand your farmers market palate, we gathered a list to make it easy for you as you’re planning where to go next. If you know of more you think we should add to our list, email lsmith@wichitaeagle.com.

Andover

Kansas Grown, the group behind the Kansas Grown farmers market in west Wichita, is expanding into Andover beginning May 23.

While smaller than the west Wichita market at the Sedgwick County Extension Center, this market will feature produce, meat, jam, crafts and more — beginning with about 20 vendors and ideally growing as the season continues.

The market will be held at the Heritage development in Andover, 360 S Heritage Way, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, according to its website. The season will end Sept. 26.

Derby

After losing a farmers market this year, this Wichita suburb is putting on its own for the first time.

The Derby Market will be held every third Thursday of the month in tandem with the city’s long-running Third Thursday events. The market will be held 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Thursdays April through September at Madison Avenue Square Park in Derby.

Goddard

Goddard’s Main Street Markets are held on the second Sunday of every month beginning in April and running through September. The event features various vendors and activities for kids to enjoy from 2 to 5 p.m.

The next market will be on Mother’s Day, May 10, and is intended as a fun day for moms and families, the city’s Facebook post reads. The markets are held at 118 N. Main St. in Goddard and admission is always free.

Haysville

Haysville’s Hometown Markets are held every Saturday from June through August from 8 a.m. to noon on the city’s main street.

The events feature vendors, live music, food trucks, giveaways and more. Every market day has a specific theme, including kids days, summer carnivals and vintage days. This year, the market is celebrating 25 years.

Kechi

Kechi’s Farmers Market is held every Thursday beginning June 4 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Kechi United Methodist Church, 4533 E. 61st St. North. The market goes through September.

Maize

Maize’s Farm and Art Market will be held on the second Thursday every month from June through September from 5 to 7 p.m. at Maize City Park, 311 Academy Ave.

Valley Center

Valley Center’s Main Street Farmers Market begins in May and is open on the first and third Thursdays of every month through September from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visitors can expect fresh produce, baked goods, food trucks and more.

Wichita

If you would rather stay in Wichita’s city limits for your farmers markets endevours, no worries. The city has two big farmers markets held every week.

The Old Town Farm and Art Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April through October at 835 E. 1st St. North, the courtyard in front of the Museum of World Treasures. If through October isn’t enough for you, they also hold a holiday market on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. November through December.

The Kansas Grown Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon from April through October at the Sedgwick County Extension Office in west Wichita, 7001 W 21st St.
