The Midwest Drywall employee who died after falling from scaffolding at the Wichita Biomedical Campus construction site has been identified as a 45-year-old father of three from Wichita.

David Rodriguez died Monday after falling while working on a scaffold on the exterior of the eight-story, $300 million biomedical campus.

A GoFundMe launched by a friend of Rodriguez’s described him as genuine, kind and funny.

“He always was making his friends laugh and was definitely the life of the party,” the fundraiser biography read. “He always lit up every room he walked into.”

Rodriguez was married and the father of three children: a 9-year-old daughter, an 8-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. Rodriguez, his wife and children all played baseball in League 42, which described Rodriguez as a “hard worker and devoted family man” in a Facebook post.

The Rodriguez family is accepting donations for funeral and living expenses via GoFundMe and can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-davids-family-during-this-difficult-time?

The construction site has since been secured, and work has been temporarily suspended while an investigation into the incident is conducted.
