A sure sign of spring: Both of Wichita’s big farmers markets are ready to open for the season. Both the Kansas Grown Farmers Market and the Old Town Farm & Art Market will launch their 2026 seasons on Saturday.

The market openings are among several events on Wichita’s Easter Weekend entertainment calendar. Here are details:

Farmers Market spring season starts

It’s opening weekend for both of Wichita’s big farmers markets. The Old Town Farm & Art Market at 835 E. First St. will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting Saturday and running weekly through October, when it will switch to a winter market for November and December. The market will feature live music, food trucks and dozens of vendors selling food, produce, flowers, plants, jewelry and art. Also opening for spring on Saturday is the Kansas Grown Farmers Market at 21st and Ridge. Its hours will be 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Halloween. The market, which is at the Sedgwick County Extension Center parking lot, features produce, meat, eggs, baked goods, flowers and crafts.

Easter events

Easter weekend has arrived, and although many events happened last week, a few more egg hunts and parties are scheduled for Saturday through early next week. Lots of local churches and businesses are putting on their own events, but among the big ones on the calendar are:

Easter Eggstravaganza, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 W. Zoo Blvd: The zoo’s annual hunt invites kids to walk around trying to spot the giant hidden eggs then report how many they saw for a prize. Visitors also will get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny. Activities are free with regular zoo admission.

14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m. Saturday, All Star Sports, 8333 W. 21st St.: This annual event includes photos with the Easter Bunny, egg hunts and raffle prizes. Those who attend should bring their own baskets and will be asked to make a $5 cash donation for local charities.

The Great Jurassic Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Field Station Dinosaurs, 2999 N. Rock Road, Derby: This egg hunt is included with paid admission to the dino park and will offer egg hunts, fossil digging and games. Kids should bring their own baskets

Easter Bloomfield Carillon Concert, noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, 204 S. Main: This free lunchtime concert will ring out from the fifth-floor clock tower at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum and is best heard from Heritage Square Park or on the streets surrounding the museum. Lynne Davis will be the performer.

Journey says goodbye

Classic rock band Journey will bring its Final Frontier Tour 2026 — which it says will be its goodbye tour — to Intrust Bank Arena, 500 E. Waterman, on Saturday. The concert by the band that produced chart-toppers like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Any Way You Want It,” will start at 7:30 p.m., and the doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $55-$411, and there’s also a four-pack offer that includes four tickets for the price of three. Get tickets at www.selectaseat.com, by phone at 316-755-7328 or in person at the Select-a-Seat box office inside Intrust Bank Arena.

Tulipalooza at Bartlett Arboretum

The tulips are blooming at Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine, which opened for the season last weekend for its Tulipalooza. The arboretum is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays (and stays open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays) for the monthlong event, which features 60,000 tulips in bloom. This weekend, Nina Winter of MOKKO will serve plant-based cuisine at the arboretum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (or until sold out.) On Saturday, people can participate in a 9:30 a.m. yoga session in the arboretum’s Lotus Garden followed by a guided walk through the grounds at 10:45 a.m. On Sunday, the arboretum will be the site of a 7 a.m. Easter Sunday service led by the Methodist Church of Belle Plaine, and Sunday afternoon will include a 4 p.m. concert by Kentucky White and His Colonels of Truth. Admission is $10 a person both days.

Ballet Wichita: “Breaking Barriers”

Ballet Wichita is putting on performances of the contemporary ballet “Breaking Barriers,” which will feature two works: one inspired by the Dockum Sit-In and one that honors influential women who shaped the Wichita community. The performances, which will be 7:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday in the B-29 Doc Hangar, 1788 S. Airport Road, will feature choreography by guest artists Yusha-Marie Sorzano and Sandra Parks. Tickets are $20-$30 at balletwichita.ludus.com
