The family of a 27-year-old Concordia woman is raising money for funeral expenses after she was killed in a Butler County car crash.

Dejuanique Edmondson was a passenger in a 2007 Honda Civic driving along I-35 on Friday evening, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. About five miles north of El Dorado, the driver of the vehicle lost control. It left the interstate before overturning and ejecting three of four people.

Three men from Wichita were seriously injured and taken to a hospital; Edmondson died from injuries sustained in the crash.

“She was a bright light in our lives, and the void she leaves behind is immeasurable,” her brother Elijah McLain wrote in a GoFundMe titled “Help Us Say Goodbye to Dejuanique Edmondson.”

The money raised by the fundraiser will go toward Edmondson’s service and burial, and her family’s travel expenses. She will be buried next to her younger brother, McLain wrote in the GoFundMe. As of Sunday afternoon, a little over $3,200 had been raised.
