A Murdock man and woman were killed in a car crash in Kingman County on Tuesday evening after their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a commercial truck.

Just after 5:30 p.m., Margaret Sue Thompson, 68, and Marvin Thompson, 72, were travelling westbound on Southeast 20th Street west of Cheney. That’s when the couple’s Chevy Malibu crossed into the eastbound lane for an unknown reason, a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol read.

The Thompsons and the driver of a commercial truck made evasive maneuvers, the report read, but collided head-on in the westbound lane. Both vehicles came to a rest in the north ditch.

The Thompsons died at the scene. They were residents of Murdock, a town 9 miles west of Cheney.

The 42-year-old truck driver from Wichita was not injured.
