Man’s body found Saturday afternoon in Lake Afton, officials say
A man’s body was found Saturday in Lake Afton, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Branden Stitt said.
Stitt said first-responders could not confirm if it was Ian Alexander Shelton, a 30-year-old missing Wichita man last seen on Dec. 3 at Lake Afton. Stitt said a coroner will identify the deceased, likely on Monday.
Stitt told media that deputies were in the area for an unrelated call when they were flagged down by a person who was visiting the lake and reported seeing a body. The body was about 25 yards from shore in the southeast corner of the lake, according to Stitt.
The report of a body being found was made at 2:09 p.m. Lake Afton is in between and south of Garden Plain and Goddard.
