A worker was injured after falling from a bridge on I-135 Tuesday morning.

According to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications 911 scanner traffic, which is preliminary and subject to change, the 38-year-old man fell from the bridge around 10:15 a.m. The man was an employee of A.M. Cohron, a contractor working on the North Junction Project at the southbound I-135 bridge, according to a spokesperson from the Kansas Department of Transportation

The fall from the bridge and into the rail yard below, a dispatcher said, was between 35 and 40 feet.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the cause of the incident is being investigated.

“The contractor’s safety team is responding and will be conducting an internal review,” the KDOT spokesperson said.
