A 39-year-old Wichita man died after his truck collided with a bridge near K-15 and 55th Street South on Tuesday morning. Law enforcement officers with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are investigating to determine what caused the single-vehicle accident.

The accident was discovered by a Kansas Department of Transportation worker at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the employee found a Ford F-250 crashed into a bridge just north of the intersection. The employee reported that the truck’s sole occupant appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle.

Investigators were able to determine that the truck was going south in the 5400 block of K-15 when it left the highway, struck the bridge railing and ejected the driver. He died at the scene.

Officials said they hope an autopsy and toxicology testing will help determine the cause of the crash.
