Wichita mother killed, two young children hurt in Butler County rollover crash
A Wichita mother is dead and her two children have been hospitalized with serious injuries following a single-vehicle rollover crash early Monday in Butler County.
Harley R. Wright, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Her 5-year-old and 6-year-old were hurt.
The crash was reported to Butler County 911 around 1:13 a.m. near the intersection of Northwest 30th Street and Northwest Tawakoni Road, in rural Benton. Authorities say Wright was driving a Chevrolet Impala after leaving a family gathering around 7:30 p.m. Sunday and was headed to take the children to El Dorado. But they never arrived.
Family members asked the El Dorado Police Department to conduct a welfare check on Wright and the children if officers found them, the release says.
“Shortly after 1:00 a.m., family members located the crash on NW 30th around NW Tawakoni Road. Wright and the children were located outside the vehicle, which appeared to have rolled several times,” according to the release.
Authorities think they were ejected. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
