A water main break near Central and Washington over the weekend is rerouting traffic in the area.

While the break is being repaired, Central Avenue is closed near Washington.

One northbound lane on Washington is still open, while all southbound lanes near the area are closed.

The water main break happened late Saturday night.

The city said the closures are likely to remain throughout the week.

Some water customers in the area were affected, but the break wasn’t big enough to trigger a boil water advisory from a loss of pressure in the city’s system, according to a city spokesperson.

“This was an 8 inch pipe,” Megan Lovely with the city said in an email. “Roughly 30 adjacent water customers were impacted, primarily businesses, for a few hours Sunday.”
