Three people were found dead after multiple trailer homes and vehicles caught fire in Dodge City on Sunday morning.

The Dodge City Police Department said fire crews responded to the fire at around 9:37 a.m. between McArtor Road and Agnes Street.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found two trailer homes and three vehicles involved in the fire, with one trailer home already fully engulfed in flames,” the police department said in a Facebook post. “Crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading further. Unfortunately, three fatalities resulted from the incident.”

The victims were not immediately identified Sunday.

The police department said investigators are interviewing family members “to gather additional information to help identify those in the fire.”

A Dodge City Fire Department engine is also monitoring the area for “any potential flare-ups” and to help the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office conduct an investigation that will determine the cause of the fire, police said.

“Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” the police department said.
