A 27-year-old Wichita man was seriously injured Friday when he was rear-ended by a cement truck on I-235, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Photos from the scene showed the roof and body of the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am the man was driving caved in and the cement truck on its side in the median.

The 21-year-old Wichita man driving the 2023 Oshkosh cement truck had no injuries, a KHP trooper wrote in a crash report.

The crash happened at 1:55 p.m. on I-235 near K-96 in northwest Wichita. The man in the car was “slowing and stopping on the inside shoulder for a mechanical issue” when he was rear-ended by the cement truck, the trooper wrote.
