An ordnance round found in a northeast Wichita home Wednesday afternoon is not live and does not present a threat, Wichita police say.

Police had urged some residents to evacuate the area earlier in the afternoon.

Police did not disclose what kind of explosive was found.

According to a post made on the department’s Facebook page, the device was found in the 700 block of N. Stratford. That’s northeast of Central and Woodlawn.

Price-Harris Elementary School, which is in the neighborhood, was not placed on lockdown. Parents and guardians were permitted to pick up their children while the police bomb unit assessed the threat.
