Two people went to the hospital Monday with minor injuries after a truck without a driver rolled onto I-235 in northwest Wichita, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A man had gotten out of his truck and had accidentally put it in neutral instead of park, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The man’s son, a 20-year-old from Wichita, was still in the vehicle.

He was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis with suspected minor injuries when the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 rolled into the southbound lane of I-235 at 25th Street. The truck was hit in the outside lane by a 24-year-old Maize woman driving a 2017 Toyota Prius. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

The father had gotten out of the truck on the ramp from 25th to southbound I-235, trooper Chad Crittenden said Tuesday. A trooper in a crash report wrote that the “driverless” truck rolled onto the highway at 9:07 a.m.
