Girl, 6, killed in crash of SUV, semi

A 6-year-old Quinter girl died Friday morning when the SUV she was riding in crashed head-on into a semitrailer truck in Sheridan County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Rileighann LeRae Fisher was in the 2011 Ford Edge when its 28-year-old driver smashed into the Peterbilt semi while passing another vehicle on K-23 at Mile Marker 167.8. The collision happened at 7:30 a.m. during dense fog, the highway patrol said.

The impact sent the SUV into a ditch.

The woman driving the SUV and the 29-year-old driver of the semi were hospitalized. The woman is from Quinter. The man is from Morland.
