A 39-year-old Wichita man died after rear-ending another vehicle on I-135 in Wichita and then hitting two barrier walls in a construction zone, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper said.

Jeffery T. Galbreath died at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday. The other driver wasn’t injured, a trooper wrote in a crash report.

Galbreath was driving a 2006 Pontiac Torrent north on I-135 when he rear-ended a 2014 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 29-year-old Wichita woman who was attempting to exit on Hydraulic, the trooper wrote.

Galbreath’s vehicle “continued Northbound crossing the lanes of traffic and striking the inside barrier wall,” the trooper wrote, before it “crossed the lane of traffic again and struck the outside barrier wall in the construction zone” and then came to a rest in two of the northbound lanes.

The woman parked the Hyundai on the shoulder.
