Police have identified the man who died after a two-vehicle wreck Sunday night as 46-year-old John Dotson of Wichita.

Dotson died at the scene, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said Monday.

Police think a shooting may have contributed to the crash, though detectives are still working to confirm this, Ford added.

The crash was reported at 8:24 p.m. in the 4600 block of East Mount Vernon.

Dotson was inside one vehicle along with two other men, ages 40 and 45, who were taken to a hospital with severe injuries, Ford said.

A 24-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and a 2-year-old girl were in the other vehicle. The woman and girl were taken to a hospital; the man turned down medical care.

Everyone involved in the crash was from Wichita, and police did not say who was driving which car.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
