Man dies, another seriously injured after two-vehicle collision in west Wichita

One man died and another was hospitalized after a crash Saturday night in west Wichita.

The deceased victim was a 72-year-old man. His identity has not been released by police.

Officers responded at 7:22 p.m. to a crash involving two vehicles near the intersection of Maple and Osage.

They began giving life-saving measures to the 72-year-old man, but he died at the scene, Wichita police spokesperson Aaron Moses said Sunday.

The other driver, a 29-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Moses said.

The circumstances behind the crash are unknown.

“The Wichita Police Department Critical Accident Team and Accident Follow-up Investigators responded to the scene,” Moses said. “The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing.”
