Police are working to identify the body of a male who was found in a pond Thursday night in northwest Wichita, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said Friday morning.

Police were called at 6:17 p.m. to the 2700 block of North Maize Road.

“Calling party is advising there’s a dead body in the water, face up, by HomeGoods at the northeast corner of the property,” a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications dispatcher said over the scanner.

There are a few different ponds in between the commercial businesses along Maize and the housing developments behind them.
