Liquor stores can’t be open on Christmas in Kansas. See when you can buy in Wichita
Christmas is one of the three holidays that Wichita liquor stores cannot be open on. So if you’re planning on bringing drinks to your Christmas dinner, plan accordingly.
Kansas law does not allow liquor stores to operate on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. But don’t fret, because most liquor stores will have their doors open on Christmas Eve — some with reduced hours.
There are no state laws in place that restrict Kansas restaurants from serving alcohol on the holiday, however. So if you find a restaurant open Dec. 25, you might be able to get a drink there.
Here’s a a quick look at some popular Wichita liquor stores hours on Dec. 24, the day before the holiday.
- Davis Liquor Outlet (Three locations: 2303 N. Amidon Ave.; 1406 N. Waco Ave.; 8909 W. Kellogg Drive), 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Jacob Liquor Exchange (Two locations: 3049 N. Rock Road & 10221 W. 21st St.), 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Total Wine & More (2762 N. Greenwich Court), 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Goebel Liquor (352 S. West St. Suite 400-600), 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Groves Retail Liquor (9983 E. Kellogg Ave.), 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (It could close earlier depending on business, the store told The Eagle)
- R&J Liquor (3015 E. Douglas Ave.), 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Be sure to make your food runs now before the holiday, too, since most grocery stores in Wichita will be closed Dec. 25.
