Motorcycle crash kills one near 47th, Woodlawn

An airman at McConnell Air Force Base was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle early Friday morning, authorities said.

Alberto Acosta-Santiago, 25, was driving west on 47th Street South when he failed to negotiate a curve just after 4:20 a.m. near Woodlawn and crashed into a ditch, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said.

“He flipped the motorcycle,” Sheriff Jeff Easter said.

Acosta-Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old female passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
