The cost of living in Wichita is one of the lowest in the US, Realtor.com list says
Wichita ranked as the second-best city for cost of living in the United States, according to one real estate website.
Realtor.com recently released its list of cities where you get the most out of your dollar. Wichita’s cost of living ranked right below McAllen, Texas, and right above Little Rock, Arkansas.
The company ranked cities using data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, specifically looking at regional price parities. The ranking was released Oct. 23.
The company found that for the usual $100 of necessities, like household bills and groceries, Wichitans usually pay $89.16. The company also reported the median home price in the city to be $292,700.
Data from the Realtors of South Central Kansas, which covers Butler, Cowley, Harvey, Sedgwick and Sumner counties, shows the median sale price of a home in the area to be $227,000, with the median listing price sitting at $280,490.
“Wichita is no stranger to entrepreneurship, and with its low cost of living, it could be the perfect place to start your business,” the Realtor.com ranking reads.
This isn’t the first time Wichita has been recognized for affordability. Earlier this October, GoBankingRates named Wichita one of the top cities for stretching your budget comfortably. In June, Wichita ranked third for the 25 cheapest places to live by U.S. News & World Report.
