Man dies after Chevy Corvette collides with tree in front of southeast Wichita house

A 56-year-old man died after the car he was driving struck a tree in southeast Wichita on Monday.

The man is from Wichita, police spokesperson Andrew Ford said. His name has not been released.

Authorities responded at 12:30 p.m. to an injury accident call at the intersection of Mount Vernon and Dellrose. They found the man unresponsive and he died at a hospital.

The man had been eastbound on Mount Vernon in a 2024 yellow Chevy Corvette when it left the road, hit the curb and collided with a tree in the front yard of a house in the 200 block of Dellrose.

The man was only person in the car. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
