Body found dead in a Wichita field identified. Police are calling his death suspicious

Police say the body of a 31-year-old Andover man found Thursday morning near 21st and I-135 in Wichita is being considered a “suspicious death.”

A driver reported seeing the body in plain sight of a grassy field between the off-ramp of I-135 north to 21st and Kansas Avenue, police said. First responders were called at 7:31 a.m.

First responders found Kelly Alexander deceased. EMS tried life-saving measures but Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The cause of death is currently undetermined pending an autopsy and is presently being investigated as a suspicious death,” police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in an email.

A 911 caller said the person was a Black male, according to Sedgwick County Emergency Communications scanner traffic.

Police are asking anyone with information about the death to call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
