The first performance during a tour for Nashville-based rock band Post Sex Nachos was Thursday at The Cotillion.

The band then loaded up its $20,000-plus worth of music equipment into a trailer attached to the tour van. The trailer also had $5,000 worth of merchandise in it.

When they woke up Friday morning in Wichita, the trailer was gone, the band members said on Facebook and in a GoFundMe.

“Truly all of our livelihood was inside of that trailer, and most of it is irreplaceable; however, we need to be able to play music to survive,” the fundraiser says. “We’re asking for any and all help to replace our instruments so we can continue to play.”

The donations have poured in since they started the fundraiser Friday morning.

The fundraiser had more than $28,300 from 476 donors by Saturday afternoon. It’s enough for them to continue their tour, which includes 11 more cities in September, including stops in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana and Georgia.

“We awoke into a nightmare, but have found ourselves feeling more supported and uplifted than we ever thought possible,” Post Sex Nachos wrote Friday in an update on the fundraiser. “Grateful and humbled doesn’t even begin to cover it — we’ll be keeping you all updated over the coming days, but thanks to you, we’re going to be able to continue on; not only for this tour, but in our careers as musicians.”

They had shows scheduled for Friday night in Denver, Saturday in Boulder and Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska. It’s unclear how the theft will affect those shows.

“I am so so sorry that this happened to you in our beautiful city,” one person wrote on the band’s Facebook post about the theft. “You guys were so amazing. I’ve already listened to my album and sincerely hope this won’t keep you from coming back someday.”
