Shots fired at man on Santa Fe

A 19-year-old man escaped injury when someone fired several shots at him outside his house on Santa Fe late Monday night, police said.

The man was hailed to the curb by men in a blue hatchback at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday in the 1500 block of South Santa Fe, Wichita police Lt. Joe Schroeder said. That’s northwest of Harry and Washington.

When the man reached the car, one of the people inside produced a gun and pulled the trigger, Schroeder said. The gun failed to fire, however, and the man ran back toward his house.

He heard several more shots, some of which struck the house, Schroeder said. He was not struck by any bullets.

There were six other people inside the house, ranging in age from 1 to 40. None of them were injured.

The intended victim told police he did not know the three people in the car, Schroeder said.
