Police have identified the 35-year-old Wichita woman who died Tuesday night while swimming in a south Wichita lake.

Aubrey Mayo was found deceased in the lake by Wichita and Sedgwick County fire and rescue officials who responded to the call at 9:50 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Broadway, Wichita police Capt. Aaron Moses said Wednesday morning.

She was “swimming in a private lake and friends lost sight of her,” Moses said.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine her cause of death, he said, adding that police don’t believe anything criminal occurred in the death.

A GoFundMe set up by her sister says that Mayo is single mother with a teenage daughter.

“My sister was a beautiful soul and will forever be missed,” Mayo’s sister wrote on social media.

Another person who shared the fundraiser on social media said: “Anyone who knew Aubrey knew she was truly one of (a) kind. She was a beautiful soul and devoted her life to helping others and spreading the word of God.”

Under the intro on Mayo’s Facebook page, it says: “Blessed” and “Yeshua is King.”

Yeshua is Hebrew. Its English translation is Jesus.
