‘Dignified transfer’ route for Wichita firefighter who died while fighting house fire
Those who want to honor the 27-year-old Wichita firefighter who died in the line of duty will have their first chance on Saturday.
A “dignified transfer” procession for Ty Voth, who collapsed suddenly while working on a house fire Thursday afternoon, will start at 11 a.m. at Sedgwick County Forensic Science, at 1109 N. Minneapolis, and go to Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Kellogg.
Here’s the route: From the forensic science center, it will go east on 10th Street, south on Minnesota Street, east on 9th Street, south on Hillside by Firehouse 5, west on Douglas, right on McLean (northbound) to Central, west on Central to Tyler (travels by Firehouse 8), south to Maple, west on Maple to 119th (travel by Firehouse 17), south on 119th to Resthaven.
Voth had been with the department for five years after first serving with Manhattan Fire Department for a couple years.
