This week, downtown Wichita will see a street closure as the inaugural Elsewhere Fest, a two-day music festival, kicks off.

On Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, from 2 p.m. to midnight, the St. Francis corridor between East Douglas and East William will close to vehicles to accommodate the festival.

This closure is parallel to Naftzger Park, which will hold various live performances and events.

In addition, the alleyway squared off by North Emporia, East 2nd, St Francis, and East 1st, will be closed to vehicles at the same date and time.

The City Council approved the resolution that allowed the street closures on Tuesday, June 18. With the approval, festival goers are allowed to drink alcohol in the blocked-off areas legally.

Elsewhere Fest will feature live music performances, such as those from Killer Mike, Vince Staples, Steve Aoki and more. Other community-building and networking events will take place as well.
