‘Family was bedside at time of death’: Wichita man dies in motorcycle accident
A 62-year-old Wichita man died at the hospital after a motorcycle accident Wednesday night on the ramp from westbound Kellogg to northbound I-235, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper.
“Family was bedside at time of death,” the trooper wrote in the crash log.
Jay Alan Markwell’s death comes just five months after his wife since 1991, Renee M. Markwell, lost her fight to cancer, according to Facebook and her obituary.
The accident was reported at 6:15 p.m.
Jay Markwell was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson “too fast to negotiate the curve and struck the barrier wall crash dampener,” the trooper wrote. He was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis where he later died.
Their son posted a photo of the three of them on social media early Thursday morning with the caption:
“Best parent I ever asked for, I love you both. See you soon.”
