Two seriously hurt when jet ski flies over boat at Cheney Reservoir cove
Investigators are looking into whether alcohol played a role in the collision between a boat and a Jet Ski at Cheney Reservoir on Sunday night, resulting in three people being hurt.
A group of people were partying together at the lake when a man on the Jet Ski crashed into the back of the boat in the Hobie Beach cove of the lake at about 8:30 p.m., said Dennis Zehr, boating specialist for the Kansas Division of Wildlife and Parks.
“The Jet Ski went over the top of the boat across the passenger side,” Zehr said.
A woman and a juvenile male who were in the boat were hospitalized in serious condition, he said, and the Jet Ski driver later went to the hospital via a private vehicle.
“There was plenty of light,” Zehr said. “Darkness didn’t factor into it.”
